Transportation of Units

TYPES OF TRANSPORTATION

We provide a complete service to customers to provide transportation of hire and sales units. There are a number of different methods available to transport containers. When considering a container being delivered to your site you must ensure the surface is fairly level, smooth and firm. We can deliver units on dirt and grass as long as it is not too wet and or soft. Units can also be placed on cement, pavements, asphalt and gravel.

ROAD TRANSPORT

Tilt Tray

The most cost effective way to transport 20’ containers by road is by Tilt Tray. This is a similar process to that of transporting cars. Tray is tilted to offload or collect unit by winching / sliding container on/off the trucks tray. The truck only requires at minimum height of 3m from the ground and an area of approx. 3m wide for access. This relatively small size allows access were other transportation is unable.

Swing-lifter / Side Loader

Another method suitable for transporting both 20’ and 40’ containers is by using a Side Loader. This is also known as a swing lifter. The container is swung / lifted off on the driver’s side of the truck and placed directly beside the truck. The truck requires access of at least 6m wide, 19m long and a height clearance of 4.5m.

Both these methods have their place in transporting containers depending on the available access area.

RAIL TRANSPORT

We can organize transport via rail to most areas of Australia as required. A current requirement however of both QRail and Pacific National is that all containers requiring transport by rail are to have a current CSC plate prior to transportation. This is something like a roadworthy certificate for a car. It is a plate on each container stating it is of sound structural integrity able to travel via rail or ship within a particular period of time. We can organize your container to be surveyed by an independent surveyor and certified suitable for transport. The minimum period is 6 months with a maximum of 24 months. This if often dictated by the standard of the container. Most B Grade units would be suitable for CSC plating of approx. 12 months.

OVERSEAS TRANSPORT

Shipping

We can organize a suitable container for shipping overseas for you to purchase however we do not send rental units overseas. As with the national rail requirements, units must be plated either with CSC or IICL plates for overseas shipping.

If you are only requiring transportation of your goods overseas and not to retain the container at the other end we suggest you contact a freight forwarder to assist you with your requirements.
