Frequently Asked Questions
What are shipping containers made of?
All our containers are made of corten steel, a high tensile anti-corrosion steel, that is not only strong but both secure and durable, capable of surviving extreme conditions. They all have double opening doors at one end with locking bars and catches. The steel units have marine ply floors tested for a safe storage load of 24 - 30 tonne and air vents for air circulation.
How secure are shipping containers?
Shipping containers are very secure and virtually vandal proof. For added security you can ask to have unit installed with locking case otherwise know as lockbox to secure further your padlock from bolt cutters.
Can I store my container anywhere?
We can deliver units on dirt and grass as long as it is not too wet and or soft. Units can also be placed on cement, pavements, asphalt and gravel. When considering a container being delivered to your site you must ensure the surface is fairly level, smooth and firm.
Do I need permission for a shipping container?
As shipping containers are non-permanent structures in most cases it would not be necessary to get permission to store them on your premises. If it is however in a residential area, near a road junction, where sight lines may be affected, it may cause complaints from neighbours . As an alternative you can apply to local council to approve a short term use of a container on the council land strip. In each case, we recommend you check with your local authorities prior to delivery.
What should I put underneath the container?
Shipping containers should where possible be placed on a level surface. You may have difficulty opening doors in this not the case. Our experience drivers will assist in positioning containers on either sleepers or concrete blocks. This will assist in allowing ventilation under the container and reduce any moisture coming up through the container floor.
If we purchase a container can you buy them back at a later date?
Yes, we are happy to buy back units subject of course to the age and condition and the current market value.
